From the iron ore town of Port Hedland, we headed to a small fishing spot called Cape Keraudren. It is a beautiful shire campground straight at the beach, so we enjoyed some more stunning sunsets from our spot! Every evening there were millions of hermit crabs that came out, so we had to watch our steps. In the mornings, they had made a new zen garden: we couldn't see any of our footprints from the day before!
We were very positively surprised of Broome: very similar to Bali, lush green, many hotels, many scooters and Cable Beach was amazing. We enjoyed learning more about the pearling industry, went searching for the famous dinosaur footprints (only visible at low tide, but we only found the man made replica), swimming, coffees, beers at sunset and Broome-time life in general. Unfortunately it was overcast when it should have been "Staircase to the Moon" - full moon that rises over the mudflats at low tide (only visible in few months of the year on specific days); so we had to replace and be happy with a "Staircase to the Boats".
The drive up to Cape Leveque was quite rough, it had been ages since the road had been graded - and it is a 100km stretch on dirt road. The effort was well worth it though: we stopped at Beagle Bay to see the church that is fully decorated with shells and looked beautiful, before heading to Kooljaman for some relaxing & swimming in the 30c warm ocean.
