What a better trial for our big up coming around Australia trip. We hired a old VW combi 1972 from our friend and planned to head north to Byron Bay. The combi is named MARGO and the max speed is casual 90kmh, exactly what we need for casual holidays.
So we were driving up to Byron, with a short stop just north of Kempsey in South West Rocks. Here we had to set up the compi the first time for an overnight and cook our first camping meal.
After a very relaxing night we were on the road again to Byron. Arrived in Byron we headed directly to our camping on Clarks Beach and check our allocated spot. The camping is directly at the end of the beach dunes and therefore only a few meter to walk until you are in the deep crystal blue waters of Byron Bay.
During our 5 days we stayed in Byron we really haven't done much besides surfing, sleeping, eating and walking along the beach. Besides heading up to the light house and having a few drink in the Bay Motel, we hardly moved from our spot. On Wednesday, we then celebrated Sarah 's 30th Birthday in style, with bubbly and salmon on toast for lunch and a nice dinner in town.
On the way back , we stopped in Diamond Beach, where Sarah's hotel chain has a very nice resort. So we enjoyed staff rate and again very short vicinity to the beach for two day.
All up after 1400km or so, we were glad to be back in Sydney with the old lady. Yuki was waiting patiently for her well deserved cuddle. Great trip with an awesome combi, fantastic weather and overall just a beautiful NSW east cost.
